Zines by Arcana Labs of Fredericton

Created to bring the shorter-formats to bear on the problem of “having something for the convention table”, Arcana Labs has a collection of “zines” - small works suitable for binding in a single signature and production on Home-Office grade equipment. The Zines are essentially a collection of series of essays, guides, and short fiction entries, covering everything from our usual technology topics like guides or tech policy commentary, as well as fiction entries from a variety of genres that are too concise for more traditional publication.

All zines are available from us in either Portable Document Format (PDF), or as printed copies for a token fee above the cost of postage. Many of the non-fiction Zines are constructively licensed to allow you to reproduce and share them with your friends for free.

At a time where amounts of money it’s hard to believe actually exist are being spent trying to convince us that “AI” solutions are a panacea for every technical and social problem, it’s hard to tell what these tools are actually useful for. This guide serves as an extremely brief primer on the most common kinds of AI currently being pushed, what the limitations of those technologies are, and what they might be useful for.

This Zine is made available as a digital document which may be freely distributed as a file or in print. The author reserves the right to sell printed copies for a nominal fee.

This project is not normally available without upfront cost. However, in keeping with our commitment to FOSS/OSHW principals, we want to lower the financial barriers for entry where appropriate.
